DUSK Contemporary Art Festival – “Stones last a wee bit longer”

Dusk Contemporary Art Festival in Iberian Peninsula’s ancestral stone sites, is the only international art night event you need to know about.

The inaugural event will be taking place amidst the unique geological surroundings of Portugal with visual artists from (Portugal and Spain), Alba (Scotland), Ísland (Iceland) and Naija (Nigeria). Exhibiting as a band of merry solstice pranksters through the hinterland of the Alentejo and Algarve regions, in Portugal.

From the night of the 18th of June to culminate in the Summer solstice on the 21st of June, 2023, this festival will be a uniquely curated programme by Nuno Sacramento and Inês Valle, where contemporary art will be articulated with archaeological, geological, astronomical and local community knowledge.

Dusk Art Festival brings artists of different generations and geopolitical contexts who will participate, but all coming from cultures with close links to stones and geology. Motivated by these, they will present performances, film screenings, debates, night walks and projects over two nights, in the middle of the Alentejo and Algarve countryside.

DUSK Art Festival presents works by over 30 Portuguese, Icelandic, Scottish and Nigerian artists both in its programme and in a publication that will be distributed for free on the festival nights. Among the artists are Ademola Onibonokuta (NG), Eddie Summerton (SCO), Jessica Ram (SCO), Gunnhildur Hauksdóttir (IS), Àsìkò (NG), AnaMary Bilbao (PT), Cristina Ataíde (PT), Fernando J. Ribeiro (PT), Luís Palma (PT), Tiago Duarte (PT), Pauliana Valente Pimentel (PT), Rui Martins & Isaque Andrade (PT) and Egill Sæbjörnsson (IS) and Pedro G. Romero (SP) who represented Iceland and Catalan pavilion at the Venice Biennale, among many others.

To make the event accessible to all, and to winkle the elitist art representative's eyes, admission is free.
