Representatives from the Nordic visual arts organizations have come together with a proposal for establishing a Nordic Council's Visual Arts Prize, as we are puzzled by the absence of such an award in line with those for literature, children's and youth literature, film, and music.

A Nordic Council's Visual Arts Prize would be a significant and well-deserved recognition of Nordic visual arts, which encompass great contemporary artistry and works, and play an important role in fostering common understanding and societal cohesion in the Nordic region.
