Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea - Rome: From Magma to Mankind - Egill Sæbjörnsson ofl.

Today opens an exhibition INTERTWINGLED - The Role of the Rug in Arts, Crafts and Design, at the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome. On the opening I will perform the Lecture Performance From Magma to Mankind, and the work will be on display in the main exhibition.

Everything is deeply intertwingled. The word was coined in 1960 by the American sociologist and philosopher Ted Nelson to define the complexity of the interconnections in the field of knowledge, where there are no isolated subjects, but there is knowledge as a whole, made up of myriad connections and cross-relationships, which cannot be disentangled and neatly divided into a hierarchical order, but must be explored in many dimensions. Only in this way can the connections and transformations of our world be made visible.

The works on display are by: Carla Accardi, Saâdane Afif, Maryam Akhondzada, Roberto Aloi, Giacomo Balla, Marion Baruch, Gastone Biggi, Alighiero Boetti, Shannon Bool, Dirk Braeckman, Max Bucaille, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Giorgio Ceretti, Eduardo Chillida, Enrico Ciuti, Cristophe Cuzin, Giorgio de Chirico, Michele De Lucchi, Mario De Luigi, Fortunato Depero, Pietro Derossi, Lia Drei, Isabella Ducrot, Alice Eberever, Fabrizio Felici, Lucio Fontana, Silvia Giambrone, Martí Guixé, Klaus Haapaniemi, Kimsooja, Inga Knölke, Jirì Kolar, Maria Lai, Bice Lazzari, Anna Maria Maiolino, Malika, Javier Mariscal, Nani Marquina, Giuseppe Micali, Ariadna Miquel, Gastone Novelli, Alberto Olmo, Achille Pace, Claudio Parmiggiani, Alessandro Pedretti, Jackson Pollock, Aldo Rossi, Riccardo Rosso, Italo Rota, Joaquim Ruiz Millet, Egill Sæbjörnsson, Antonio Sanfilippo, Corrado Sassi, Daniel Schwartz, Ettore Sottsass, Jana Sterback, Massimo Uberti, Patricia Urquiola, Stefano Ussi, Emilio Vedova.
