Joe Keys

Á sýningunni Else má sjá nýja skúlptúra sem unnin hafa verið undanfarin ár. Verkin eru búin til úr afgöngum og fundnum efniviði, einfaldar hugmyndir unnar með því að safna, raða og skipuleggja. Einstakir skúlptúrar hafa sín blæbrigði en eru agnir og merki í stærri samsetningu sýningarinnar.

Í tilefni sýningarinnar Else kemur út vandað bókverk eftir Joe og verður því jafnframt fagnað í Kling & Bang.


Óðamála
Ólöf Bóadóttir

Á sýningunni sinni Óðamála frumsýnir Ólöf Bóadóttir nýja innsetningu sem samanstendur af fjögur nýjum verkum. Í þessum verkum leitar Ólöf á stafræn mið internets og samfélagsmiðla og reynir að gera grein fyrir fagurfræðilegum tilhneiginum pólitískrar þjóðerniskennda. Innsetningin er í senn leiðangur um symbolískt landslag þjóðernishyggjunnar sem og tilraun til að myndgera þetta stóra og óræða sem hlutgerist í sprungunum á milli merkingar og meiningar.

Laugardaginn 14. desember kl. 16 verður listamannaspjall með Ólöfu og Joe. Viðburður verður auglýstur síðar.

Joe Keys (f.1995) stundaði myndlistarnám við New College Durham, Bretlandi og útskrifaðist með FDA árið 2017. Árið 2018 hóf hann nám í Reykjavík við Listaháskóla Íslands og útskrifaðist þaðan árið 2021. Hann hefur sýnt víða, bæði á Íslandi og erlendis, til að mynda í Grikklandi, Finnlandi, Eistlandi, Óman og Bretlandi. Joe vinnur aðallega með fundinn efnivið í gegnum skúlptúra ​​og prentsmíði. Verkin hans endurspegla skipulagskerfi í daglegu lífi, með þurrum húmor veitir hann hlutum athygli sem gleymast gjarnan eða eru vanmetnir. Nýlega hefur hann einbeitt sér að ljóðrænum textaverkum, teikningum og klippimyndum. Joe er nú stjórnarmeðlimur Nýlistasafnins og er stofnmeðlimur listamannarekna sýningarrýmisins Associate Gallerí í Reykjavík.

Ólöf Bóadóttir (f. 1994) útskrifaðist af myndlistardeild Listaháskóla Íslands árið 2019. Hún starfar í Reykjavík og stundar jafnframt nám í heimspeki við Háskóla Íslands. Hennar fyrsta einkasýning var haldin í Harbinger árið 2020 og bar heitið Skúlptúr í formi hárbolta. Áður hélt hún sýningu í Höggmyndagarðinum á Nýlendugötu ásamt Óskari Ámundasyni, þar sem þau sýndu verkið Pigeon Supermax (2019) á utandagskrá Sequences IX: Really. Ólöf gerði verkið Helvítis Vegagerðin (2019) í listamannadvölinni Röstin og er það staðsett í Katrínarmó á Þórshöfn, Langanesi. Hún tók jafnframt þátt í fjórðu útgáfu Hjólsins, útilistasýningu á vegum Myndhöggvarafélagsins í Reykjavík, með verkinu Ákveðinn efnisbúskapur (2021). Ólöf vill helst kljást við almenningsrýmið og leitast jafnframt við að fanga það sem er stórt og órætt. Hún stofnar oft til samskipta við ókunnugt fólk í ferlinu, sem verður gjarnan hluti af verkunum. Þau taka á sig myndir skúlptúra, bókverka, vídjó- og hljóðverka.

Joe Keys

Else is an exhibition of sculptures made over the last few years, they are works that have come into existence with leftover and found material, simple ideas made by gathering and organising. The individual sculptures have their own nuances, but are specs and marks in the larger composition of the exhibition.


Pressured Speech
Ólöf Bóadóttir

In her exhibition Óðamála, Ólöf Bóadóttir exhibits a new installation consisting of three new works. In these works, Ólöf explores the digital realms of the internet and social media, attempting to articulate the aesthetic tendencies of political nationalism. The installation is both a journey through the symbolic landscape of nationalism and an effort to visualize the vast and ambiguous that materializes in the cracks between meaning and significance.


Joe Keys (b.1995) studied at New College Durham, UK in visual arts graduating with an FDA in 2017, In 2018 he began studies in Reykjavík at the Iceland University of the Arts, graduating in 2021, and since then supervising the print workshop at the same institution, He has exhibited frequently in Iceland, and been an artist in residence andexhibitior in Greece, Finland, Estonia, Oman and UK, He predominantly works with found material through sculpture and printmaking, The works he makes reflect systems of organisation in daily life, with a dry humour and consideration for overlooked and under-appreciated objects, In recent times he has focused on poetic text works, drawing and collage, He is currently a board member of the Living Art Museum and co-founded the artist run space, Associate Gallery in Reykjavík.


Ólöf Bóadóttir (b. 1994) graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Iceland University of the Arts in 2019. She works in Reykjavík while also pursuing studies in philosophy at the University of Iceland. Her first solo exhibition was held at Harbinger in 2020, titled Some Type of Form Body. Previously, she exhibited in the Sculpture Garden on Nýlendugata alongside Óskar Ámundason, where they presented the work Pigeon Supermax (2019) as part of the off-programming for Sequences IX: Really. Ólöf created the piece Damn The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration(2019) during an artist residency at Röstin, and it is now located in Katrínarmó at Þórshöfn, Langanes. She also participated in the fourth iteration of The Wheel, an outdoor art exhibition organized by the Reykjavík Sculptors’ Association, with her work Circulating Economy (2021).
Ólöf primarily engages with public spaces and strives to capture the vast and the indefinable. In her process, she often initiates interactions with strangers, who frequently become part of the works. Her creations take the form of sculptures, artist books, video works, and sound pieces.
