Artist Statement
Most women experience having their period. From adolescence to over fifty, this monthly task is looming, varyingly burdensome, and sometimes extremely painful. Women learn to deal with it, learn to live with it, they move on, pretend like it's nothing. So as this somewhat unwanted long-term very gender specific education comes to an end, the mysterious menopause takes over with all it’s challenges.

We, The Icelandic Love Corporation, are in this period of change, are menopausal. We have gone through a whole year without bleeding, which marks the end of menopause and the beginning of post-menopause. We are not alone, half of humanity will hopefully also be able to experience this relief.
With decades of studies, written in blood, behind us, we have to some extent gone through higher education and have finally graduated with a diploma and are celebrating with a solo exhibition at Gallery Gudmundsottir.

During the exhibition “Written In Blood” every post menopausal woman can get her diploma and take a graduation photo, alone or with her supporters.

We wish you all happy graduation!
