Residency Open Call
The programme welcomes artists, collectives, researchers and curators from around the world, with projects exploring the relations between art, science and technology.
Applications are open until October 30th, 2026.
Art Explora is excited to launch the call for applications for the Art Explora – Cité internationale des Arts Residency Programme 2027 !
Fostering new encounters between arts and audiences, locally, nationally and internationally, Art Explora created its first residency programme in Paris in 2021. Ever since, the residency programme has welcomed and supported more than 145 residents, from 58 countries, of all ages and disciplines.
Until October 30th 2026, artists and collectives of artists, researchers and curators from all around the world are invited to apply for this unique residency programme, with projects that question relations between art, science and technology, and address social and ecological issues of our time.
Two programmes are proposed:
SOLO programme for artists only;
COLLECTIVE programme for collectives of artists or artist & researcher/curator
Residents benefit from a fully-furnished studio for 3 or 6 months, production and living grants.
The Art Explora programme was designed as an exclusive residency offering tailor-made support that accompanies artists throughout their creative process, through both curatorial and production support.
Complementing this, a unique mentorship programme with leading figures from the art world further strengthens the support offered to artists. Mentors include Marcella Lista, Marc Spiegler and Sandra Terdjman.
Active networking is one of the programme's key pillars. The residency programme fosters connections between its artists and institutions whose expertise can strengthen the development of residency projects: museums, archives, researchers and academics, production workshops, and more.
The selection committee is composed of leading figures from the international art world and scientific research :
Hoor Al-Qasimi (United Arab Emirates): President and Director of Sharjah Art Foundation
Fernanda Brenner (Brazil & France): Curator, writer and founder artistic director of Pivô, Sao Paulo
Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev (Italy & United States): Curator, writer and Honorary Guest Professor at FHNW University in Basel.
