OPEN CALL - Artist-in-residence programme “Art/Earth” at C-TAKT Belgium March 2026
OPEN CALL - Artist-in-residence programme “Art/Earth” at C-TAKT Belgium March 2026
Art/Earth: Jöklaminni is a one-off small-scale residency project organised by non-profit art organisation Stray Light that explores artistic responses to climate change and vulnerable ecosystems, and is fed by scientific facts coming from partners The Young Academy and the University of Iceland.
We invite two artists from different disciplines to join a one-month residency at C-TAKT, Dommelhof, Neerpelt (Belgium), leading to a public presentation at the Winternights Festival Maastricht end of 2026: 2/3/2026 - 4/4/2026.
The residency serves to further develop your own practice relating to the theme. Before the residency, you’ll connect with the scientists. During the residency, the provided scientific facts can be used by the artists however they wish. At the end of the residency, you reconnect with scientists to talk about what you have done and how it can contribute.
We work towards 1) a modest concrete work-in-progress output on an artistic level that is shown at the end of the project, 2) documenting research, process, new work and best practices, 3) a concluding text.
*Only members of SÍM are eligible to apply.

THE HOST
https://www.c-takt.be/en/
C-TAKT is a platform for transdisciplinary talent: an artistic workspace where hybrid practices and boundary-crossing experiments take centre stage. It offers artists the freedom to explore processes of research, development, and creation, supporting transdisciplinary forms that move between visual art, performance, sound art, in situ art and other artistic languages. Adjacent to the residency space is the ‘Klankenbos’, a small forest of the Dommelhof domain in Pelt housing sound art.
ARTISTS: WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• Professional artists. Artists must be able to demonstrate professional activity either through professional art training or through relevant experience and own practice.
• An interest in climate/ecology, landscape, and the relation between arts and sciences, is paramount.
• The artistic medium is open: transdisciplinary, sound art, media art, visual art... Performing arts intended to be performed indoors are not eligible because of practical reasons.
• Artists open to exchange, experimentation and collaboration.
• We encourage diversity. The call is for everyone, regardless of (and not limited to) gender, ethnic background, age, education or disabilities. We respect all personal characteristics or beliefs. We welcome LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC artists. The space is accessible by elevator for persons with reduced mobility.
Conditions
• Artists commit to the full residency period.
• No requirement for finished work: the residency is a space for research, process and public sharing.
