Norræna húsið í Reykjavík gengur til liðs við FORCE, norrænan samstarfsvettvang sem vinnur að því að efla listfrelsi og styðja við listamenn.

Norræna húsið er nú samstarfsaðili FORCE (Freedom, Open dialogue, Resilience, Collaboration, and Empowerment). FORCE er norrænt framtak, stofnað af Mesén, sem miðar að því að styrkja hlutverk listar í lýðræðislegri umræðu og styðja listamenn, sérstaklega þá sem starfa í almenningsrýmum og verða í auknum mæli fyrir pólitískum, félagslegum og efnahagslegum þrýstingi.

Á sama tíma og umræður um menningu verða sífellt eldfimari á Norðurlöndum sameinar FORCE stofnanir, fagfólk og stefnumótendur til að greina sameiginlegar áskoranir, þróa aðferðir til að vernda listfrelsi og skapa varanlegann vettvang til samstarfs og þekkingarmiðlunar. Með ráðstefnum í Osló, Helsinki og Reykjavík, ásamt reglulegum stafrænum fundum, stuðlar netið að faglegri þekkingarmiðlun og styrkingu samstarfs þvert á Norðurlönd.

Með þátttöku í FORCE styrkir Norræna húsið áherslur sínar á listfrelsi, listsköpun og verkefni í almenningsrýmum, auk þess að efla samstarf við norrænar stofnanir sem vinna að sambærilegum markmiðum. Við hlökkum til að taka þátt í þessu mikilvæga starfi og styðja við öflugt, fjölbreytt og lýðræðislegt menningarsamfélag.

The Nordic House in Reykjavík joins FORCE, a Nordic platform dedicated to strengthening artistic freedom and supporting artists working in public space.

The Nordic House is now a partner in FORCE (Freedom, Open‑Dialogue, Resilience, Collaboration, and Empowerment). FORCE is a Nordic initiative established by Mesén to reinforce the role of art in democratic dialogue and to support artists, particularly those working in public spaces, who increasingly face political, social, and economic pressures.

As cultural debates intensify across the region, FORCE brings together organisations, practitioners, and policymakers to identify shared challenges, develop strategies for safeguarding artistic freedom, and build sustainable arenas for exchange. Through conferences in Oslo, Helsinki, and Reykjavik, as well as ongoing digital gatherings, the network fosters knowledge sharing and alliance building across borders.

By joining FORCE, The Nordic House strengthens its commitment to artistic freedom, public space practices, and to deepening our cooperation with other Nordic institutions that share these objectives. We look forward to contributing to this important work and to supporting a resilient, diverse, and democratic cultural field.
