Hi, I’m Maja Gregl, an artist based in Slovenia with a background in graphic design and sculpture. I studied Graphic Design at the School for Design and Photography in Ljubljana and later earned my degree in Sculpture from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design. I love working with materials—stone, clay, plaster, and beyond—and I’m always curious to explore new ways of shaping and expressing form.

Over the years, I’ve been lucky to learn from inspiring mentors like Nina Koželj, Maja Smrekar, Dragica Čadež, and greatly respected sculptor Jakov Brdar and to gain hands-on experience through restoration projects across Slovenia, from Jesenice’s old military tunnels to detailed stonework in Škofja Loka and renovation of a church in Kranj.

I’ve taken part in several competitions and exhibitions—some of my highlights include winning first prize in the France Ahčin sculpture competition, showing my work in group exhibitions like Fragmenti 2.0 and In Search of a Big Dipper, and having two solo shows, the most recent one in Galerija Domžale (2025). I also contributed sculptures for a public art project celebrating the 100th anniversary of poet Kajuh, now permanently displayed in Šoštanj.

Now, I’m stepping into curating for the first time—bringing together artists and ideas that inspire me. I'm excited to connect, collaborate, and continue growing through shared creative experiences.
