Art Practice, Art Presence - Artists Professional practice workshops
Art Practice, Art Presence is a hands-on artists’ professional practice workshop series created by artist, researcher and university lecturer Dr Emilia Telese. Rooted in her now legendary trademark course Dodge the Shredder (first taught at Central St. Martins in 2001), the programme has been constantly updated over the years to reflect the fast-changing realities of the contemporary art world.
This series, crafted exclusively for Magma Art Space, offers a deep, practical dive into the business aspects of being an artist, no matter if you have just started building your practice or are seeking a professional refresh. It features plenty of exercises, case studies and first hand accounts directly from the host’s 30 + years experience.
The workshop is composed of four modules that can be attended independently or as a full series for a comprehensive journey. Here’s what you will learn:
How the art world works (02/06 at 16:00)
Fundraising, proposals and approaches to gallery – Europe and Beyond (03/06 at 16:00)
Budgeting and Pricing (04/06 at 16:00)
Project Management for artists (05/06 at 16:00)
Just when it seems that online courses have taken over the world, Art Practice, Art Presence returns to the power of face-to-face connection. Expect coffee breaks, real dialogue, and a chance to build lasting professional relationships in Reykjavík and beyond.
