ANNA RÚN TRYGGVADÓTTIR (*1980, lives and works in Iceland) is the Rising Stars Residency Artist 2025 and presents the results of her residency in the exhibition Hald at the museum’s MainStage.

Hald is the Icelandic word for “to hold.” Inspired by nature, as well as by her own experiences and feminist and sociological literature, the artist has created works that in the broadest sense explore the support we all need. “To hold means to be held,” she explains.”

Her installations and watercolors reflect, on the one hand, the support found in nature—since, as living beings, we depend on this ecosystem. On the other hand, they address interpersonal and social support, which is particularly crucial in today’s polarized times, when it becomes essential to take a stand. Her art underscores the significance of both dimensions and offers a sense of hope.

The Till Richter Museum opens the second part of its 2025/26 season with five new summer exhibitions, launching on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM.

While the spring exhibitions focused on the relationship between humans and art, the summer program shifts attention to the relationship between humans and nature, as well as between people themselves. The museum continues its commitment to exploring these themes through works that are both poetically resonant and formally strong, informed by philosophy and science.

The exhibitions feature Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir, Claas Gutsche, Paul Raguénès, Kerstin Hirthe / kecOh, and Chris Tille. Alongside these presentations, visitors can also experience works from the museum’s family collection and the capsule exhibition Play of Color.

At the opening, the artists Anna Rún Tryggvadóttir, Paul Raguénès, Kerstin Hirthe, Chris Tille, and Minor Alexander will be present. Admission is free.
