The Ferme-Asile officially announces the opening of 3 residencies for artists residing outside of
Switzerland. These will take place between November 2023 and July 2024.

The Ferme-Asile is a multidisciplinary artistic centre designed to develop and promote creation in Valais
and in Switzerland. Specialising in contemporary art and music, the Ferme-Asile participates in the
development of artistic expression and culture in a place of creation, production, training and research.

The aim of this residency programme is to enable artists to stay in Valais and benefit from a natural and
cultural environment that is conducive to their artistic practice. It is open to applications from international
professional artists working in the visual, sound or performing arts. Interdisciplinary projects are welcome.
Applicants may apply as a duo or a collective, but the resources provided remain the same.

The selected artists will be provided with a 45m2 apartment and a 18m2 studio. The Swiss Canton of Valais
offers a monthly fee of 1,500 CHF. Travel expenses are supported by the artist.
An artistic event will conclude the artist's stay in residence: for example, an open studio, an outdoor
exhibition, a performance, an evening screening. This event will be directly linked to the artist's work
produced while in residence.

The selection process is carried out by a commission composed of the director of the Ferme-Asile, a
representative of the Service de la culture du Canton du Valais, the delegate for cultural affairs of the city
of Sion, an artist resident of the Ferme-Asile, as well as an external expert.

To participate, the application must include the following documents (pdf):
• Summary (max. 1000 characters) of the project proposal;
• Short biography with a description of the artistic practice (max 1000 characters);
• Complete CV;
• A cover letter with detailed description and relevance of the project (max 2 pages);
• Portfolio in digital version presenting the professional artistic work done during the last 5 years;
• Letter of recommendation from a professional in the applicant's artistic field and references.

The application can be written in French or in English. It is imperative to mention the date of the chosen or
preferred residency in the letter.
