SÍM Gallery: LO-renzo / I found my island - bolide Z

Ég fann eyjuna mína – bolide Z

Sýningin er afleiðing heimsókna listamannsins LO-renzo til Íslands árin 2017, 2021, 2022 og samanstendur af ljósmyndaverkum. Opnun fimmtudaginn 6. júlí frá 16 :00 – 19 :00 í SÍM salnum, Hafnarstræti 16. Sýning stendur til 28. júlí 2023.

Síðan 2012, hef ég verið að vinna að verkefni sem ég kalla «  Ég fann eyjuna mína – bolide Z ». Hnigað til, hef ég kannað kannað 6 mismunandi landsvæði: garða ímyndunaraflsins í Dordogne, eldfjöllin á Reunion eyju, afbyggða og endurbyggða Berlínarborg, Leibniz stofnunina í stjörnueðlisfræði í Potsdam, hraunbreiður Íslands ásamt leiruviðartrjám Nýju-Kaledóníu.

Verkefnið er stutt af menningarmálaráðuneyti-DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine (2020; 2018), svæðisráði Nouvelle-Aquitaine (2021), menningarstofnun Dodogne-Périgord (2018; 2015; 2012), Terrasson Lavilledieu borg (2013; 2014), Les amis du jardin d’hélys samtökunum (2012 - nú), Art habitable - Le jardin d’hélys (2012 - nú), SOCRA (2013; 2012), og ED architecture stofnuninni (2023; 2020; 2019).

« ... Is an expansionist and poetic project which is part of the continuity of his artistic

approach. Today, the project is global. It “throws” other bolide Z to the surface of the

earth. Initially, it targets strategic points such as volcanic, historical, scientific and cultural islands. Each time, his body is used as a tool for this projection : he transports his bolide Z to their base.

An enigmatic title

The word « bolide » is the scientific name given to extraterrestrial bodies more than one meter in diameter. Their imposing size induces a specific phenomenon when they enter the atmosphere : they produce very intense lights, ranging from blue to red. The Z represents the signature of the artist, LO-renzo, while being a reference to the history of art and in particular to the paintings of Lucio Fontana and Maurizio Cattelan. The number indicates that it is a series.

The very particular pink used for the meteorite, called “LO-renzo pink”, is the visual signature of the artist. It refers to the history of art and the famous IKB (International Klein Blue) by Yves Klein, created in the 1960s.

A metaphor for artistic creation

The work entitled Bolide Z is a metaphor for the poetic action of artists in the everyday world. It highlights their ability to question our certainties.

Just like the extraterrestrial « bolide », the bolide Z represents an external element that comes to disturb and fertilize an ecosystem.

This pink and incandescent meteorite is an image of the artist who changes the world and influences society.

The artist gives things a new meaning through his offbeat look at them.
