Culture moves Europe funded residency opportunity at Hub Feenix Magic Forest Trail Project, Sept 2nd -Oct 16th 2024 in Hub Feenix, Raasepori, Finland. The call for applications is open until 12th May 2024. 

We welcome professional artists and craft makers to apply for our Culture moves Europe funded residency: we will invite 5 artists to create artworks on the new Hub Feenix Magic Forest Trail. 

The artists will be provided accommodation in private bedrooms, a private studio space, assistance, support and networking possibilities. The residency includes travel allowance of 300-700€ according to how far they travel from +  25€ allowance for food and local travelling etc / a day. To apply, the artist needs to reside permanently in one of the Creative Europe countries (but not Finland).

Hub Feenix is a non-profit centre for art and well-being, situated in a historic sanatorium in Meltola, Raasepori, South-Western Finland. Although only 1 hour from the capital Helsinki, we are surrounded by beautiful nature. 

The aim of this project is to create artworks to Hub Feenix Magic Forest Trail, an actual walking path emerging in the forest around Hub Feenix. The artists are welcome to enjoy the diverse facilities Hub Feenix offers: wood, metal and 3D-printing workshops, ceramic, printmaking and textile workshops as well as a sound recording studio. The works can be created individually or together in groups, but all works will be part of the overall artwork formed by the art path. The idea behind the art trail is to help the visitors to stop and open their senses to the wonder of forest nature. The works should to some measure withstand the weather conditions of Finland: heavy rain and snow in the winter. The artworks will remain a part of Hub Feenix environment, and the art trail will be enjoyed by all the Hub Feenix visitors from the spring to the autumn.

The participating artists don’t necessarily need to have experience of this type of work before - this can be an opportunity to try something new. We see the project as an adventure we can all dive in together! The atmosphere in Hub Feenix is supportive and invigorating, and so a residency period can be both artistically productive and bring new vitality and recreation.
