The group show from the artists from the May 2022 SIM Residency is titled tunglið, tunglið taktu mig, from the 1978 Icelandic pop song by the same name. The song takes its text from an old folk verse that speaks in its first lines of longing for new worlds—of being carried away to still unknown spaces and places—as it declares, "Moon, moon take me and carry me up to the clouds. The mind carries me halfway in the new worlds." In some ways, the song echoes the experiences of the nineteen artists from different parts of the world who travelled to Iceland with a longing to delve intensively into their respective artistic projects. They brought with them their own worlds, which, in the course of the past month, confronted, collided and merged with the local spheres. The exhibition title stands, metaphorically, for the magic and poetry of the island with its peculiar culture and nature, which have influenced the resulting works in many ways.
