Art Month

THE MONTH OF ART IS A PLATFORM FOR PROMOTING THE WORK OF ARTISTS TO THE PUBLIC, MAKING THE PROFESSION MORE ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE AND INCREASING DISCUSSION ABOUT ART AND ARTISTS.

Art Month is an educational project organized by the Association of Icelandic Visual Artists in October every year. The project is intended to educate the public, preferably people of primary and secondary school age, about the work and working environment of visual artists as well as the nature of the profession. One of the most important parts of the job is the school presentations by visual artists in primary and secondary schools around the country. The presentations have been successful and have become an annual event in many schools.

SCHOOL PROMOTIONS 2022:

One of the biggest aspects of Art Month is to offer school presentations to primary and secondary schools across the country. Visual artists then visit the schools and present their work, careers and projects. In this way, it is hoped to draw the attention of children and young people to the origin of art in Icelandic culture, and likewise to open their eyes to the possibilities of creative future work. The school presentations have been well attended and a number of schools apply, the project tries to the best of its ability to offer everyone a presentation no matter where the schools are located around the country.
